Saskia
Praamsma
Saskia, when still in the Netherlands, studied at
the Rietveld Akademie and apprenticed in a commercial pottery in
Amsterdam. In the US she studied with Don Reitz in Wisconsin. In
Canada she worked at the Sheridan School of Design in Mississauga
and was part of the founding team of the Harbourfront Craft Studios
in Toronto. In Africa she taught and worked at the Thamaga Pottery
of Botswelelo Centre in Botswana. Recently she spent six months
teaching at the Turquoise Mountain School of Ceramics in Kabul,
Afghanistan. She is one of the potters who founded the Almonte Potters'
Guild in 2003.
She handbuilds stoneware vessels decorated with textures
and stains.
Saskia's work can be found at Snapdragon Fine Crafts in Ottawa
and Cornerstone in Kingston.
Saskia teaches classes at the Guild. She is also the technician who fires the
kilns.
Carolyn
Gibbs
Carolyn enjoys making functional pottery, and specializesin decorated
whimsical ware.
Carolyn is a graduate of the University of London and of Hammersmith
College of Art in England.
She has taught at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, including
in the Arts in Education programme.
She is a studio potter at the Guild, and teaches classes.
